The first thing you've to care about is the depth and breadth of the hole you're going to dig for sowing the plant into. Usually, the depth of the hole must enough to accommodate the roots of the plant, enabling them to move deep enough under the soil to settle firmly. As regards the diameter of the hole, it is generally half of the roots diameter.

While transplanting a shrub from a container to the ground soil, make sure the depth of the hole is at least 2 inches more than the length of the plant root. Also, the soil at the bottom of the hole must be softened a bit, to ensure the plant can grow smoothly.

The soil that has been dug out of the hole and which will be used to fill it up again after putting the plant inside the hole, must be mixed with a little bit of peat moss and other nutrients to provide the newly transplanted plant with extra dose of nourishment which is helpful in its successful growth.

While putting the plant inside the newly dug hole, it must be held straight while the soil mixed with peat moss is filled inside the hole. Mind it, if the plant is not held straight at this point of time, it might lean down towards one side afterwards which is not all good for proper growth and health of the plant.

After sowing the plant, don't forget to form a heap of loose soil around the plant, as this heap will be useful in retaining water and helping the tree grow more firmly. Also, after the plant is transferred from one place to another, it calls for sufficient water supply during the initial days after being transferred. Hence, make it a point to water the plant for at least 7-10 days regularly one you've transferred the plant.

Trimming of trees and shrubs is an important aspect associated with their plantation. Regular trimming keeps the tree and shrub look attractive and also does away with damaged leaves and branches. Once you've trimmed the trees and shrubs, always remember to spray the trimmed areas with a special pruning spray in order to keep the harmful insects and pests away from the tree or the shrub.
